Here’s the master key to success

In the book “Think & Grow Rich”, Napoleon Hill tells us that the “master key” to all success is a burning desire.

The critical first step to achieving any goal, is to develop within yourself a burning desire to achieve it.

Without burning desire, it is like trying to light a fire with wet matches. The fire within you never gets lit and so at the very first obstacle it becomes too easy to give up and move on to another goal.

If you experience any kind of procrastination or you find yourself moving from one unrealized goal to the next, it could be a lack of burning desire that is at the root of the problem.

Burning desire is created when you want something so badly that you simply will not stop until you get it.

The achievement of this goal is so important to you that no obstacle will stand in your way.

It’s like pouring gasoline on a fire. It burns so big and so bright that it is difficult to extinguish.

This fire is already burning within you and is waiting for you to pour gasoline on it.

Your “reasons why” is the gasoline.

The stronger the reason for achieving the goal, the easier it becomes to achieve it.

What is it that you “desire” most?

The problem with January 2nd

Happy new year!

When a year comes to an end, it is a time to celebrate everything that happened this year and to look forward to great blessings in the year ahead.

The last 10 days of December tend to be a time to relax and reflect, while January 1st marks a new beginning. A time to get serious again.

A tradition of setting New Year’s resolutions is evidence of how our culture regards January 1st as an new beginning. An opportunity to wipe the slate clean and to set some new goals.

The problem is that on January 2nd we get back to our old routines, doing the same things we always do, and the new goal is quickly forgotten.

One of the most powerful tools for overcoming this problem is the 100 Day Challenge.

The 100 Day Challenge is a high intensity program with a system of support and accountability that takes away the excuses and causes of failure.

This year, I will be using these next 100 days to finish writing my new book (Grow 10x) and sell at least 50 copies on or before April 9th, 2012.

If you could achieve any goal over the FIRST 100 days of 2012, what would that goal be?

All journeys’ need a map.

Life is a journey. As with all journeys’, it is much easier once you know where you are going and how to get there.

Without a plan and a map to follow, it can feel like you have no direction or purpose for the things that you do every day.

It’s like walking through a forest without a map and compass to guide you. We can walk around in circles for hours. Never really getting anywhere.

The first step is to know where you are going.

Creating a bucket list is an easy way to “map” out your life so that it is clear what direction to go.

My bucket list contains 101 things that I want to do while I’m still alive. Every month I review my list to see what I can do next.

Some things are very easy to achieve while others require more time and effort.

Regardless of what the goal is, it provides a sense of direction and purpose that gets me out of bed every morning.

Your bucket list becomes the map for your journey through life.

Everybody Sells.

Nearly every day, I encounter somebody that does not believe that they can sell.

Selling is one of those things that are very scary for most people. It also comes with an inaccurate perception that all sales people are shady deceitful people.

In reality, everybody sells whether they think they do or not.

  • When you asked your wife to marry you, you were selling.
  • When you asked your kids to eat all their supper, you were selling.
  • When you decided to buy a new car, you were selling.

The fact is, you are always selling.

When you set a goal, you are either selling yourself on taking action to achieve it OR you are selling yourself on all the reasons that it is not possible.

The most important person that you will ever sell to is you.

What are you selling yourself today?

A time to be grateful

Tomorrow is Christmas Day, and whether or not you believe in and celebrate this Christian holiday, it really does seem to bring out the best in people.

Charitable donations are usually at their highest in the month of December. It’s a time to be grateful for all the wonderful things that happened this year and to give a hand up to those that have not had it as good.

I really enjoy how cheerful people seem to get during the holiday season.

What if we could choose to be that happy and grateful all the time?

It’s a matter of focus.

If I focus on unhappy things, I feel unhappy. When I focus on happy things I feel happy.

However you spend the holidays, I wish for you great happiness.

Thank you for reading this blog. I am grateful for you.
